Our Cup Overflows and we are Thankful

"O Thou, whose bounty fills my cup
   With every blessing meet!
I give Thee thanks for every drop-
   The bitter and the sweet.
I praise Thee for the desert road,
   And for the riverside;
For all Thy goodness hath bestowed,
   And all Thy grace denied."

Our Signature Queen Anne's Lace Cake

Good for you in every way, this delectable cake is our namesake cake. The wildflower, Queen Anne's Lace is a member of the carrot family, so naturally our signature cake is our version of everyone's favorite, Carrot Cake. In keeping with our love of nature, this cake is sweetened with wildflower honey and dark maple syrup, rather than white sugar. Using unsweetened applesauce and canola oil makes it very moist and reduces the amount of fresh eggs and butter. The use of whole wheat pastry flour increases its nutritional value, as do the plump golden raisins and sweet shredded carrots. The warm spices are as delicious to smell as well as savor. This photo shows our cake clothed in a glossy white vanilla bean frosting. It is melt-in-your-mouth goodness.

On a Crisp June Morning

"Gardening is the art that uses flowers and plants as the paint, and the soil and sky as the canvas-working with nature provides the technique."
~ Elizabeth Murray

Chocolate Cakes are in the oven but as soon as they are out to cool, I plan to enjoy a cup of coffee and look at my gardens.  And after decorating and delivering those cakes, out to the gardens I shall go to spend my afternoon.  I am so looking forward to listening to the baby birds, smelling the honeysuckle and savoring the beauty midst the chaos.  Only gardeners will understand why I won't mind the aching back, the scratches and stings and all the rest that go with caring for one's flowers.  To spend time studying up close my Lord's masterpieces is such a joy and I am thankful to have a few hours to share this time with Him.  I hope your day is as lovely...
