On a Crisp June Morning

"Gardening is the art that uses flowers and plants as the paint, and the soil and sky as the canvas-working with nature provides the technique."
~ Elizabeth Murray

Chocolate Cakes are in the oven but as soon as they are out to cool, I plan to enjoy a cup of coffee and look at my gardens.  And after decorating and delivering those cakes, out to the gardens I shall go to spend my afternoon.  I am so looking forward to listening to the baby birds, smelling the honeysuckle and savoring the beauty midst the chaos.  Only gardeners will understand why I won't mind the aching back, the scratches and stings and all the rest that go with caring for one's flowers.  To spend time studying up close my Lord's masterpieces is such a joy and I am thankful to have a few hours to share this time with Him.  I hope your day is as lovely...

A Good Friday

"Perhaps out of pure heavenly goodness the spring came and crowded everything it possibly could into that one place."

~ from "The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett

Everywhere I look today, the earth has exploded into flowers.  And it is a beautiful reminder on this day as I reflect on my Saviour's death on the cross, that He came back to life in a glorious resurrection.

I wish all of you a blessed Easter.

"He is risen, as He said!"

My Sweet Sonshine

"The father of a righteous man has great joy; he who has a wise son delights in him.
May your father and mother be glad; may she who have you birth rejoice!"
                                           Proverbs 23: 23-25

He has, he does, we do and I, who gave you birth, most definitely do rejoice in you, dearest Son. You are our miracle.  We wish you a joyful 20th birthday and an animated and awesome year!
                                        Love you, Mom and Dad

"Oh, What a Beautiful Morning!"

"Oh, what a dawn of day!
How the March sun feels like May!
All is blue again
After last night's rain,
And the South dries the hawthorn-spray."

Robert Browning

Enjoy the gift of this glorious Spring day, Dear Ones Everywhere...

Spring has Sprung!

"See!  The winter is past;
the rains are over and gone.
Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come,
the cooing of doves
   is heard in our land."

Song of Songs 2: 11-12

We ALL Scream for Ice Cream?

Wedding Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes by Queen Anne's Lace
Wedding Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes, a photo by Queen Anne's Lace on Flickr.

These pretty little cupcakes were created for a sweet couple recently who were married on a Sunday with a Sundae-themed wedding.  The cupcakes were NOT frosted with Ice Cream but with neopolitan-flavored Butter Cream.  Scrumpdillicious?

Love What You Do...

As I prepare for an upcoming bridal show, I am reminded of what fun it is to do what I do.  Meeting sweet couples, dreaming up ideas and then drawing them is a joy for me.  Selecting the finest ingredients and smelling the wonderful aromas as I create the cakes is intoxicating.  And though, the moments leading up to the final presentation can be tense, it is worth it all to know the couple and their guests will find it to be as delicious inside as it is on the outside.  Looking forward to many more happy days spent doing what I love...

Teeny-Tiny Wedding Cake

Good things do come in small packages, especially when they are a sweet little gift like this one.  Though extremely time-consuming to create, they are so much fun to decorate!

"A Thing of Beauty..."

:...is a Joy Forever..."   ~ John Keats

It has been an astonishingly long wait but, at last, the snow is falling!
These Spicy Snowflakes were made in January and I have been anxiously looking for a snowy day to share them.  Like the sculptures floating down outside, each one was uniquely and lovingly created.  Wishing you moments of joy as you pause to treasure the beautiful blessings showered upon us daily.

Cake Artist's Journey #2

Along the path to this career, I have drawn so many cakes.  Some are created with specific couples in mind in order to help them narrow down their "tastes", while others are those which I long to make.  For me, to wake up each day with a cake ready and waiting to adorn would be bliss.  Wishing you a sweet day...

The Cake Artist's Journey

I do so enjoy drawing up cakes for my couples to help us refine the design.  Sometimes I think perhaps I like it too much and that others simply make quick sketches.  And though I do that on the spot with the couples watching, I like to go back and spend time dreaming and drawing.  The bride and groom always seem to appreciate seeing the ideas in detail and it helps them to visualize their dream cake.  Either way, it is further evidence that I am becoming a true "Cake Artist"!  Let me know what you dream up!

January Snowflakes...

The only snowflakes around central Ohio today are those in my bakery kitchen today.  I never cease to be inspired by these amazing ice sculptures which are (usually) showered upon us in the winter.  Until they fall from above, I am enjoying making my own snowflakes out of sugar.  Sweet blessings to all of you...
